Massey Ferguson 102.12 – Engine ECU: Intake Boost Pressure Sensor Signal Erratic
Issue description
The engine control system detects that the signal from the intake boost pressure sensor is outside of its expected operating range or is physically broken/shorted, which can result in reduced engine performance or power degradation.

Check the cause
Connect the AGCO EDT or a compatible PC service tool to check the live data of the Intake Boost Pressure signal, verifying if the reading is stuck, implausibly high, or showing no signal.
Check the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the sensor for a break in the wiring or a short circuit to the battery positive terminal (12V).
Inspect the sensor connectors and ECU pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose connections that could cause an erratic signal.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the Intake Boost Pressure Sensor (also known as the Charge Air Pressure/Temperature sensor) on the engine's intake manifold.
Inspect and Clean
Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and inspect for damaged pins.
Test Wiring
Using a multimeter, verify continuity from the sensor connector back to the Engine ECU harness. Ensure there is no short to 12V power or ground.
Replace Sensor
If the wiring and connectors test good but the code persists (or the live data shows an erratic/implausible reading), remove the retaining hardware and pull the faulty sensor from the intake manifold. Install the new sensor and secure it.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, connect the AGCO EDT diagnostic tool, and clear the inactive 000102.12 / SPN 102 FMI 12 fault code from the Engine ECU.
Verify Repair
Start the engine and verify that the fault code does not return and that engine power is restored to normal levels.
