Massey Ferguson 102.17 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Intake Boost Pressure Sensor Signal Too High
Issue description
The controller is receiving an abnormally high voltage or pressure reading from the intake manifold boost pressure sensor (MAP sensor). This indicates that the sensor's signal is outside the expected normal operating range, which can be caused by a short circuit to a high voltage source, a failed sensor stuck on a high reading, or an actual overboost condition in the intake manifold.

Check the cause
Use a diagnostic scan tool to read the live boost pressure with the engine off. If it reads a high pressure value instead of atmospheric pressure, the sensor or wiring is faulty.
Inspect the wiring harness between the boost pressure sensor and the ECU. Look for chafed wires, corrosion in the connector pins, or a short circuit to the battery/high voltage source.
Remove the sensor from the intake manifold and check for heavy soot, carbon buildup, or debris blocking the sensor tip.
Inspect the air intake system and turbocharger wastegate for mechanical malfunctions that could be causing an actual overboost condition.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the Intake Boost Pressure Sensor (MAP/TMAP sensor), which is mounted directly on the engine's intake manifold.
Disconnect
Press the release tab on the electrical connector and carefully pull it away from the sensor.
Remove
Unscrew the retaining bolt(s) holding the sensor to the manifold and pull the sensor straight out.
Install
Lubricate the O-ring on the new OEM sensor slightly to prevent tearing. Push the new sensor into the manifold port and secure it with the retaining bolt.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks securely. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the tractor, clear the 00102.17 fault code, and run the engine to verify that the code does not return and live data reads normally.
