Massey Ferguson E107.18 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Air Filter Pressure BELOW NORMAL

This code is triggered when the air filter pressure sensor detects a significant restriction in the engine's air intake system, indicating that the air filter is clogged with dust or debris and is starving the engine of air.

   Visually inspect the primary (outer) and secondary (inner) air filters for heavy dust accumulation, chaff, or physical damage.

   Inspect the air intake piping leading to the filter housing and from the housing to the engine for blockages (e.g., bird nests, debris) or collapsed hoses.

   Locate the air filter pressure sensor (usually mounted on or near the air filter housing). Disconnect the harness and check for corrosion, oxidation, or loose pins.

   If the filters are clean but the code persists, test the sensor circuit for continuity or temporarily swap the sensor with a known good unit to verify if the sensor is defective (sensor fault cause).

   Clean or replace filters

   Remove the outer air filter. If it is lightly soiled, you may tap it out, but replacement is highly recommended to ensure proper airflow. Never attempt to clean the inner safety filter; it must be replaced if dirty.

   Clean the housing

   Wipe out the inside of the air filter housing with a clean, damp cloth before installing the new filters.

   Install new filters

   Seat the new inner filter firmly, followed by the new outer filter. Ensure the housing cap is sealed correctly and the dust ejector valve is pointing downward.

   Clear the code

   Turn the ignition on. If the code was triggered by a physical blockage, restoring airflow should allow the ECU to clear the active fault (though it may remain in the history log).

   Replace the sensor

   If the code remains active with new filters, replace the air filter pressure sensor/switch. Unplug the electrical connector, unthread the old sensor from the intake housing, thread the new sensor in, and reconnect the harness.
