Massey Ferguson E1076.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Voltage Issue On Fuel Solenoid On High Pressure Pump

The control module has detected an open circuit or abnormal voltage condition on the actuator wires for the fuel injection pump's fuel control valve (fuel metering valve, suction control valve, or M-Prop). When this circuit is open, the engine will typically fail to start or run properly because rail pressure cannot be regulated.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the high-pressure fuel pump solenoid back to the ECU for chafed wires, breaks, or areas where the harness may have rubbed against the engine block.

   Disconnect the plug at the fuel solenoid and the ECU connector to inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-back terminals, or loose connections.

   Use a multimeter to check the continuity of the two actuator wires between the ECU and the solenoid to test for an open circuit.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the fuel solenoid itself. If the multimeter reads infinite resistance (OL), the internal coil has failed open and the valve must be replaced.

   Clean the Area

   Locate the high-pressure fuel pump on the engine. Thoroughly clean the pump housing and the area around the fuel metering solenoid to prevent any dirt or debris from entering the sensitive high-pressure pump.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Remove the mounting fasteners (usually Torx or Allen bolts) securing the solenoid to the pump body. Carefully twist and pull the solenoid straight out of the pump housing.

   Install the New Valve

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new fuel pressure valve with clean diesel fuel. Gently insert it into the pump housing, ensuring the O-rings do not pinch or tear.

   Torque

   Install the mounting bolts and tighten them to the OEM specified torque.

   Reconnect and Prime

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the key to the ON position to allow the electric lift pump to prime the low-pressure fuel circuit and purge air.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the E1076.05 code from the ECU, then start the tractor and verify that target fuel rail pressure is achieved and the code does not return.
