Massey Ferguson 1076.06 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM4: Voltage Issue On Fuel Solenoid On High Pressure Pump

The engine controller has detected that the pump solenoid circuit (specifically the MPROP / Fuel Control Actuator valve) is severely short-circuited to ground. Because the MPROP valve regulates fuel pressure, a severe short circuit causes the control unit to immediately cut off the engine to prevent damage.

   Inspect the actuator wires leading to the fuel injection pump control valve for a short to ground or a short to each other

   Inspect the ECU unit connector, the high-pressure pump connector, and any intermediate wiring harness connectors for dirty, worn, corroded, or defective pins

   Disconnect the MPROP solenoid valve from the harness and test the harness with a multimeter to isolate the short circuit. If the wiring tests fine, the internal coil of the MPROP solenoid valve has failed and is shorting out

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

   Ensure safety while working on the engine's electrical system.

   Locate the high-pressure fuel pump and identify the MPROP solenoid valve

   Locate the high-pressure fuel pump on the engine and identify the MPROP (Fuel Control Actuator/Metering Unit) solenoid valve mounted on it.

   Disconnect the electrical connector

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the MPROP valve.

   Remove the mounting screws

   Remove the mounting screws holding the MPROP valve to the high-pressure pump.

   Carefully remove the old valve

   Crucial: Ensure the area is completely clean so no dirt or debris enters the high-pressure pump during this process.

   Lubricate the O-rings

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new MPROP valve with clean diesel fuel.

   Install the new MPROP valve

   Install the new MPROP valve onto the pump and tighten the mounting screws to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect the electrical connector and battery

   Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery.

   Clear fault codes and verify repair

   Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool, prime the fuel system if necessary, and crank the engine to verify the repair. Ensure there are no fuel leaks and that the code does not return.
