1077.04

Massey Ferguson 1077.04 – Engine ECU: Fuel Solenoid On High Pressure Pump Issue

Issue description

MPROP control, Metering unit AD-channel voltage below normal or a short to ground on the low side. Can also trigger an ECU internal fault 0102, indicating an internal hardware failure on the high-pressure unit control circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • 7616
  • 5612
  • 7622
  • Interim Tier 4 (2012-2015)
  • 7614
  • 5611
  • 7615
  • 5610
  • 5613
  • 7620
  • 5609
  • 7618
  • 5608
  • 7619
  • 7626
  • 7624
  • 7600 Series Interim Tier 4 (2012-2015)

Check the cause

  1. System Reset: Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 60 seconds, then turn it back on to see if the code clears or returns as active.

  2. Wiring & Connector Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the MPROP valve on the high-pressure fuel pump. Look for chafing, melted insulation, or a short circuit to ground.

  3. Pin Check: Disconnect the MPROP valve and the ECU connectors. Check for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

  4. Component Testing: Test the MPROP solenoid for an internal short to ground.

  5. ECU Verification: If the wiring harness and the MPROP valve test perfectly fine, the Engine ECU itself has likely failed internally (ECU internal fault 0102).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery before servicing the fuel system or ECU to prevent further electrical damage.

  2. Harness Repair

If a short to ground is found in the wiring harness leading to the high-pressure pump, repair the damaged section using weather-sealed splices or replace the harness section.

  3. MPROP Valve Replacement

If the MPROP valve is internally shorted, thoroughly clean the area around the high-pressure fuel pump to prevent contamination. Remove the mounting bolts for the MPROP valve, extract the old valve, lubricate the O-rings on the new valve with clean diesel fuel, and install it.

  4. ECU Replacement

If the wiring and valve are fully functional, the Engine ECU has suffered an internal hardware failure on the high-pressure control circuit. The ECU must be replaced and flashed/reprogrammed by an authorized dealer to match the tractor's engine serial number and immobilizer.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool (like WinEEM4 or an AGCO EDT) to clear the inactive fault codes.
