Massey Ferguson 11 – AIRCON (Air Conditioning Panel Module): Sunlight Sensor Signal Incorrect

Issue description

This code is triggered when the signal from the cab's solar/sunlight sensor falls outside of its programmed operating limits or provides an impossible voltage value to the controller.

Check the cause

  1. Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to verify the active code and monitor the live voltage/signal data coming from the solar sensor.

  2. Visually inspect the sunlight sensor (typically mounted on the dashboard/console near the windshield or on the cab roof) for physical damage or heavy debris blocking the sensor eye.

  3. Disconnect the sensor and inspect the wiring harness and pins for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  4. Check for continuity between the sensor connector and the AIRCON module to ensure there is no open circuit or short to ground causing the impossible value reading.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor

Power down the tractor and turn off the battery isolator switch.

  2. Locate the solar sensor

Locate the solar sensor inside the cab.

  3. Remove the faulty sensor

Carefully pry or unclip the sensor from its mounting bezel (use a plastic trim tool to avoid damaging the interior panels).

  4. Disconnect the sensor

Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty sensor.

  5. Connect the new sensor

Connect the wiring harness to the new OEM solar sensor.

  6. Install the new sensor

Snap the new sensor back into the mounting hole.

  7. Clear the fault code

Turn the battery isolator back on, power up the tractor, and use the AGCO EDT to clear the stored fault code.

  8. Test the system

Test the automatic climate control system in direct sunlight to ensure the blower fan and temperature adjust correctly.
