   Test Sensor Resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure the resistance across its terminals using a multimeter. Compare the readings to standard specifications (e.g., resistance should change smoothly as the engine warms up; a dead short indicates a failed sensor).

   Test Connector Voltage: With the key ON and the sensor disconnected, check the reference voltage at the harness connector to ensure the ECU is sending the proper signal (typically 5V).

   Drain Coolant

   Drain enough coolant from the radiator/block to lower the fluid level below the sensor's mounting location to prevent spills.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the old coolant temperature sensor.

   Use a deep socket or open-ended wrench to unscrew and remove the old sensor from the engine block or thermostat housing.

   Apply a suitable thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor (if it does not come pre-coated). Screw it into place and tighten it to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification.
