Massey Ferguson 1132.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Air Inlet Temperature Sensor Signal Voltage High (ECU)
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is receiving a voltage signal from the Air Inlet Temperature Sensor that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This almost always indicates an open circuit, a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or a sensor that has failed internally (infinite resistance). It can also occasionally be caused by a short to a high-voltage power source in the wiring harness.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the Air Inlet Temperature Sensor and connector for mechanical damage, backed-out pins, or water/corrosion intrusion.
Perform a harness test for an open circuit: disconnect the sensor and check for a 5V reference signal and a good ground at the harness connector. If missing, trace wiring back to the ECU.
Measure the resistance across the two pins of the sensor itself. If the multimeter reads 'OL' (Open Loop) or extremely high resistance, the sensor has failed internally.
Check the main engine ECM connectors for bent pins or corrosion if the wiring tests fine but the code persists.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Sensor
Identify the Air Inlet Temperature Sensor on the engine's intake air piping or intake manifold.
Removal
Depress the locking tab on the electrical pigtail and carefully unplug the connector. Unthread or unbolt the sensor and pull it straight out. Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Installation
Insert the new sensor. If it is a threaded sensor, ensure the O-ring or thread sealant is intact. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (do not overtighten plastic-bodied sensors).
Reassembly
Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks securely. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Verification
Turn the key on and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 001132.03 fault code. Start the engine and verify that the code does not return and that the ECU is reading a plausible intake air temperature.
