Massey Ferguson 13.00.04 – TRANS1: Air Brake Park Brake Solenoid Issue Dyna VT / Dyna 6

This indicates a malfunction in the electrical circuit or the physical solenoid responsible for actuating the air brake park brake system.    Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the park brake solenoid for physical damage, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Use a multimeter to check the wiring between the TRANS1 controller and the solenoid for continuity (to rule out an open circuit) and check for shorts to ground or shorts to power.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil. If the multimeter reads 'OL' (open loop) or shows a dead short (near 0 ohms), the solenoid coil has failed internally.

   With the key ON and the park brake switch engaged/disengaged, back-probe the connector to verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct command voltage to the solenoid.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely, as you will be working on the park brake system. Turn off the engine and remove the key.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission valve block where the park brake solenoids are housed (refer to your specific model's service manual for the exact location on the transmission housing).

   Disconnect

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the faulty air brake park brake solenoid.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic/pneumatic system when the component is removed.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the solenoid stem. Slide the electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge. (Note: If the mechanical valve cartridge itself is sticking or leaking, it will also need to be unthreaded from the block and replaced).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the weather seal is intact and it clicks into place.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Turn the ignition on. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 13.00.04 fault code from the TRANS1 module. Start the tractor and cycle the park brake multiple times to ensure proper engagement and disengagement without the code returning.
