Massey Ferguson 13.00.05 – TRANS1: Air Brake Park Brake Solenoid Issue Dyna VT / Dyna 6

The TRANS1 module has detected an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) in the circuit controlling the Air Brake Park Brake Solenoid. This solenoid is responsible for engaging/disengaging the pneumatic trailer park brakes or the tractor's air-assisted park brake system when the transmission is placed in park.

   Inspect the transmission/cab fuse box for blown fuses related to the transmission control or park brake circuits.

   Trace the wiring from the TRANS1 module to the Air Brake Park Brake Solenoid on the transmission valve block. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points.

   Disconnect the plug at the solenoid. Inspect for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil. An open reading (infinite ohms) or a dead short indicates a failed internal coil, meaning the solenoid must be replaced.

   With the key on and the park brake commanded, check for proper supply voltage and ground at the harness connector.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Because you are working on the park brake system, you must physically chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental short circuits while working on the transmission harness.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission control valve block (usually on the side of the transmission housing). Identify the specific electrovalve for the Air Brake Park Brake.

   Remove the Faulty Solenoid

   Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the solenoid stem. Slide the electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge. (If the cartridge itself is leaking or sticking, you may need to unthread the entire electrovalve assembly from the block).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil over the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil).

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical plug, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Turn the ignition on, clear the 13.00.05 fault code via the dashboard or diagnostic tool, and cycle the park brake to ensure the air brake engages and disengages properly without the code returning.
