   Resistance Test: Disconnect the solenoid connector and measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins with a multimeter. A healthy Massey Ferguson transmission/brake solenoid typically reads around 10 Ohms. If it reads open (infinite resistance) or shorted (0 ohms), the solenoid coil has failed.

   Harness Continuity: Check the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the TRANS1 module for continuity and ensure there are no shorts to ground.

   Voltage/Signal Check: With the key on and the trailer brake commanded, verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage signal to the solenoid connector.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the park brake, turn off the engine, and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure by pumping the brake pedals.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the hydraulic trailer brake valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty trailer brake solenoid.

   Remove the retaining nut or screws holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve stem.    Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid/cartridge with clean hydraulic oil. Thread the new cartridge into the block (if replacing the whole unit) and tighten to OEM torque specs. Slide the new solenoid coil over the stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

   Reconnect & Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, check for hydraulic leaks, and test the trailer brake operation.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 13.00.0E fault code from the TRANS1 module.
