Massey Ferguson 13.00.15 – TRANS1: Park Brake Release Solenoid Open Circuit Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
The transmission control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit that controls the park brake release solenoid. Because the circuit is "open," electrical current cannot flow, meaning the solenoid cannot energize to release the parking brake. This is typically caused by a disconnected wire, a broken harness, corroded connector pins, or a failed (burnt out) internal solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the park brake release solenoid on the transmission valve block. Inspect the wiring harness leading to it for chafing, rodent damage, or breaks.
Connector Check: Disconnect the plug at the solenoid. Check for pushed-back pins, water ingress, or corrosion.
Solenoid Resistance Test: Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid itself. If it reads out of limits (OL) or infinite resistance, the solenoid coil is internally broken and must be replaced.
Harness Continuity Test: If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the TRANS1 ECU pins.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Critically important: Chock the wheels securely. Because you are working on the park brake system, releasing or removing the solenoid could cause the tractor to roll.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the transmission housing around the park brake release solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
Remove the retaining nut/bolts holding the solenoid coil or cartridge valve in place and carefully extract it from the transmission block.
Install the New Part
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert the new solenoid and tighten the retaining hardware to OEM torque specifications.
Reconnect and Clear
Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn on the tractor's ignition and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 13.00.15 fault code from the TRANS1 module.
Test Operation
Start the tractor and cycle the park brake on and off to ensure it engages and releases properly without throwing the code again.
