Massey Ferguson 13.00.2E – TRANS1: Park Brake System Pressure Issue Dyna VT

Issue description

The transmission control system has detected an abnormal hydraulic pressure reading within the park brake circuit. The system is either seeing pressure when it shouldn't, failing to see pressure when commanded, or receiving an out-of-range signal from the handbrake pressure sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Locate the handbrake pressure sensor (transducer) on the transmission valve block and inspect the electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  2. Check the wiring harness between the TRANS1 module and the pressure sensor for continuity, ensuring there are no open circuits, shorts to ground, or shorts to a 12V power source.

  3. Inspect the park brake release solenoid and check the resistance (ohms) of the solenoid coil to ensure it is within specification and not drawing high/low amperage.

  4. Plumb a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge into the park brake circuit test port and actuate the park brake to verify if the actual hydraulic pressure matches what the sensor is reporting. If mechanical pressure is correct, the sensor is faulty; if incorrect, suspect the solenoid valve, a hydraulic leak, or a blockage.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely, as you will be working on the park brake system. Turn off the engine and relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the controls.

  2. Locate the Component

    Access the transmission valve block where the park brake hydraulic lines route. Locate the handbrake pressure sensor or the park brake solenoid valve.

  3. Removal

    Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty sensor or solenoid. Clean the area around the component to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Unthread the sensor or solenoid from the valve block. Have a shop rag ready to catch residual hydraulic fluid.

  4. Installation

    Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor or solenoid with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread the new component into the valve block and tighten to the OEM torque specification.

  5. Reconnection

    Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  6. Testing

    Start the tractor and allow hydraulic pressure to build. Cycle the park brake on and off several times. Inspect the new component for any hydraulic leaks.

  7. Clear Codes

    Use a diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard diagnostic dashboard menu to clear the 13.00.2E fault code from the TRANS1 module.
