Issue description

The controller is detecting a "Low Amp Draw" on the electrical circuit for the Park Brake Activated Solenoid. A low amperage draw typically indicates an open circuit, meaning electrical current cannot flow properly. This is most commonly caused by a broken wire, a disconnected or corroded harness connector, or a failed (open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the HITCH controller to the transmission valve block on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission for chafed wires, rodent damage, or pinched lines.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the Park Brake Activated Solenoid and check for water ingress, pushed-back pins, or corrosion.

  3. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If the multimeter reads OL (infinite resistance), the internal coil has failed open and the solenoid must be replaced.

  4. If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the power and ground wires from the solenoid connector back to the HITCH controller to verify the harness is not broken or open circuit in the wiring itself.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

    Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Because you are working on the park brake system, you must securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

  2. Locate the Solenoid

    Locate the transmission valve block on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission where the range and park brake solenoids are housed.

  3. Clean the Area

    Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid valve block with brake cleaner or compressed air to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

  4. Disconnect Wiring

    Unplug the electrical connector from the Park Brake Activated Solenoid.

  5. Remove the Solenoid

    Depending on the exact valve block revision, either remove the retaining nut at the end of the stem to slide the electromagnetic coil off, or unbolt the entire solenoid valve cartridge from the block.

  6. Install the New Part

    Slide the new coil onto the valve stem (or thread the new cartridge into the block) and tighten to OEM torque specifications.

  7. Reassemble and Test

    Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn the key on, clear the stored 13.00.44 fault code from the dashboard/terminal, and test the engagement and disengagement of the Park Brake to ensure the code does not return.
