Massey Ferguson 13.01.0C – TRANS1: Hydraulic Trailer Brake Solenoid Issue Dyna VT
Issue description
Indicates an electrical or mechanical malfunction within the circuit of the solenoid responsible for actuating the hydraulic trailer brakes. This can be caused by an open circuit, a short circuit, abnormal amperage draw, or a failed solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading from the TRANS1 module to the hydraulic trailer brake solenoid for chafed wires, broken connections, or corrosion inside the connector pins.
Test the solenoid coil for proper resistance using a multimeter to check for high amp draw, low amp draw, or an open circuit.
Verify that the magnetic brake pedal sensor/switch is sending the correct signal to the TRANS1 module when the brakes are applied.
Perform a hydraulic pressure test to ensure that the brake system pressure drops appropriately when the brake is applied.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor and cycle the brake pedals to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the braking circuit.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the hydraulic trailer brake solenoid valve, typically mounted on the transmission hydraulic control block (often accessible from the side or rear of the Dyna VT transmission housing).
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid switch.
Remove the Solenoid
Unbolt the retaining screws or unthread the solenoid cartridge from the hydraulic block. Be prepared to catch a small amount of hydraulic fluid.
Install the New Part
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic oil. Install the new solenoid and tighten to OEM specifications.
Reconnect and Clear Codes
Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, test the trailer brake hydraulic remotes for proper operation, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 13.01.0C fault code from the TRANS1 module.
