Massey Ferguson 13.01.15 – TRANS1: Park Brake Release Solenoid Open Circuit Dyna VT

The transmission controller detects a break in the electrical circuit (an 'open circuit') for the solenoid responsible for releasing the parking brake. Because the circuit is open, electrical current cannot flow to energize the solenoid, meaning the park brake may fail to release.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the TRANS1 controller to the park brake release solenoid for chafed wires, broken lines, or disconnected plugs.

   Disconnect the plug at the solenoid and check for corroded, pushed-back, or loose pins inside the connector.

   Perform a solenoid coil resistance test using a multimeter across the pins of the solenoid. A reading of 'OL' (Out of Limits) indicates the coil has failed internally.

   If the solenoid tests within normal resistance specifications, test the wiring harness for continuity between the solenoid connector and the TRANS1 module pins to locate the break in the wire.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely, as you will be working on the parking brake system and the tractor could roll if the brake is released manually or mechanically.

   Access the Solenoid

   Locate the park brake release solenoid on the Dyna-VT transmission valve block.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a broken wire, splice and repair the wiring harness using weather-sealed connectors, or replace the damaged pigtail connector.

   Solenoid Replacement

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or clip holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve. Slide the new solenoid onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut/clip. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Turn the ignition on, use the tractor's diagnostic interface to clear the 13.01.15 / 13.00.15 fault code, and test the park brake engagement and release functions to confirm the repair.
