Massey Ferguson 13.01.17 – TRANS1: Park Brake Release Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) drawn by the park brake release solenoid is lower than the expected threshold. A "Low Amp Draw" typically indicates an open circuit, high electrical resistance, a disconnected plug, damaged wiring, or a burnt-out solenoid coil.

   Wiring & Harness Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the TRANS1 controller to the park brake release solenoid on the transmission valve block. Look for chafed wires, breaks, or pinch points that would cause an open circuit.

   Connector Check: Disconnect the plug at the solenoid. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-out terminals.

   Coil Resistance Test: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) across the solenoid coil pins. If the reading is infinite (OL) or out of specification, the internal coil has failed and the solenoid must be replaced.

   Voltage Supply Test: Verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid connector when the park brake is commanded to release.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and chock the wheels (since you will be working on the park brake system).

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission control valve block on the Dyna VT transmission housing and identify the Park Brake Release Solenoid.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the harness or replace the pigtail connector.

   Replace Solenoid (If Applicable)

   Clean the area around the solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Disconnect the electrical connector. Unbolt/unscrew the faulty solenoid from the valve block. Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic/transmission fluid. Install the new solenoid and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical plug.

   Clear Codes

   Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface or a compatible OBD tool to clear the 13.01.17 fault code from the TRANS1 module.

   Test Operation

   Start the tractor and cycle the park brake to ensure it engages and releases properly without throwing a new code.
