Massey Ferguson 13.01.30 – TRANS1: Park Brake System Pressure Issue Dyna VT (TRANS1)

This code indicates that the transmission control system has detected an irregularity in the hydraulic pressure of the park brake circuit. The system monitors this pressure to ensure the park brake (ParkLock) is safely applied or fully released. If the pressure falls outside the expected range (too low) or if the sensor sends an invalid signal, the tractor will log this code. This can result in the tractor refusing to come out of park, failing to move, or illuminating the brake pressure warning light on the dashboard.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the handbrake pressure sensor. Look for chafed wires, open circuits, or short circuits (to earth or +12V), which are common causes for sensor signal failures.

   Use a mechanical gauge to verify the actual hydraulic pressure in the park brake circuit. If the mechanical pressure is normal but the code persists, the sensor is faulty. If the mechanical pressure is actually dropping, the issue lies deeper in the hydraulic system (e.g., failing accumulators, leaking brake pods, or a weak service pump).

   Depressurize

   Always park the tractor on level ground, turn off the engine, and securely chock all wheels before working on the park brake system to prevent the machine from rolling. Ensure the tractor is off and hydraulic pressure in the system has been safely relieved.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the handbrake pressure sensor on the transmission housing / hydraulic valve block.

   Disconnect

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the pressure sensor.

   Remove

   Unscrew the faulty pressure sensor. Have a shop rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic oil that may weep from the port.

   Install

   Thread the new OEM pressure sensor into the port. If the sensor does not have pre-applied thread sealant, use an appropriate medium-strength hydraulic threadlock (e.g., Loctite 242) as specified by Massey Ferguson repair guidelines.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

   Test

   Start the tractor, allow hydraulic pressure to build, and clear the fault codes from the TRANS1 module. Cycle the park brake on and off to ensure the tractor engages and releases park properly without throwing the 13.01.30 code.
