13.01.42

Massey Ferguson 13.01.42 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna 6

Issue description

The control module has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the circuit for the park brake release solenoid is lower than the expected threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a disconnected plug, broken wiring, high electrical resistance due to corrosion, or a completely failed (open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Park Brake Released Solenoid for chafing, cuts, or melted insulation.

  2. Disconnect the solenoid plug and check for pushed-out pins, water ingress, or green corrosion.

  3. Perform a resistance test (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter. An infinite reading (OL) confirms the internal coil is broken (open circuit).

  4. Turn the key ON and command the park brake to release. Check for proper supply voltage at the harness connector to rule out a broken wire between the HITCH ECU and the solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Tractor

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Crucial: Chock the wheels securely, as disabling the solenoid could cause the tractor to roll if the brake disengages.

  2. Locate the Solenoid

Identify the Park Brake Released Solenoid on the transmission's ParkLock hydraulic valve block.

  3. Disconnect Power

Turn off the battery isolator switch to prevent short circuits.

  4. Remove the Solenoid Coil

Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut or clip at the top of the solenoid stem.

  5. Replace the Coil

Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge.

  6. Reassembly

Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem, secure the retaining nut, and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Calibration/Clearing

Turn the battery isolator back on. Use the tractor's dashboard Setup and Information Screen (SIS) or a diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes. Test the park brake engagement and release to ensure the code does not return.
