Massey Ferguson 13.01.43 – Hitch controller (HITCH): Park Brake Activated Solenoid High Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The electronic control system has detected an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) draw on the circuit responsible for the Park Brake Activated Solenoid, typically indicating a short circuit (short to ground, shorted internal coil, or water ingress).

   Inspect the wiring harness from the Hitch controller to the Park Brake Solenoid on the side of the transmission for pinched wires, chafing against the chassis, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the plug at the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, dirt, or hydraulic fluid/water ingress that could cause a short.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the Park Brake Solenoid. If resistance is near zero, the internal coil is shorted.

   With the solenoid disconnected, turn the key on and activate the park brake. If the code changes to an Open Circuit or Low Amp Draw code (13.01.44), the solenoid is the culprit. If the High Amp Draw code persists, the short is in the wiring harness.

   Immobilize the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat surface, lower all implements to the ground, and securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission valve block on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission where the range change and park brake solenoids are housed.

   Disconnect Electronics

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty Park Brake Solenoid.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid valve block with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unscrew the hydraulic coupling cartridge/solenoid from the valve block. Have a rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic oil.

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic oil. Thread it into the valve block and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn on the tractor and use the diagnostic interface to clear the 13.01.43 fault code.

   Test Operation

   Engage and disengage the park brake multiple times to ensure the transmission locks and unlocks properly and that the fault code does not return.
