Massey Ferguson 13.01.44 – HITCH / Transmission ECU: Park Brake Activated Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The fault code indicates that the HITCH/Transmission ECU has detected a 'Low Amp Draw' on the circuit responsible for the Park Brake Activated Solenoid. A low amperage draw typically means there is an open circuit or high resistance in the wiring, most commonly caused by a broken wire, a disconnected/corroded plug, or a burned-out (open) solenoid coil.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the brake block solenoid for chafing, breaks, or rodent damage.

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded/pushed-back pins.

   Measure the resistance across the two pins of the park brake solenoid coil using a multimeter (expected: 8 to 12 ohms). An 'OL' reading indicates a broken internal coil.

   Check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the HITCH ECU to rule out a broken wire.

   Secure the machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface and securely chock the wheels to prevent rolling.

   Access the valve block

   Locate the transmission brake valve block on the side of the transmission or rear axle housing. Remove any side panels or steps if necessary.

   Disconnect power

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

   Remove the solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty park brake solenoid and remove the retaining nut or clip at the end of the solenoid stem.

   Swap the coil

   Slide the faulty electromagnetic coil off the hydraulic cartridge stem. Do not remove the hydraulic cartridge itself to prevent fluid loss.

   Install the new part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem, secure it with the retaining nut or clip, and plug in the electrical connector.

   Test system

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and clear the fault codes. Engage and disengage the park brake to ensure the code does not return and the brake operates mechanically.
