Massey Ferguson 13.02.07 – TRANS1: Air Brake Solenoid Issue Dyna VT / Dyna 6 (TRANS1)

Issue description

This code indicates an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short circuit, or abnormal current draw) detected in the Air Brake Solenoid circuit. The system relies on this solenoid to actuate or release the pneumatic trailer/park brakes, and the controller has detected that the signal is outside of its expected operating parameters.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the air brake solenoid (mounted on the side of the transmission valve block or near the trailer brake pneumatic control block) and wiring harness for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

  2. Disconnect the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or poor terminal tension.

  3. Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter to measure the resistance across the air brake solenoid coil. An open circuit or dead short indicates a failed solenoid coil.

  4. Check the continuity of the wiring from the solenoid connector back to the TRANS1 module pins, ensuring there is no short to ground or short to power.

  5. Verify that the TRANS1 module is receiving proper supply voltage, as low voltage can trigger false solenoid codes.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Ensure the tractor is turned off, the parking brake is mechanically engaged, and the air brake system is fully depressurized before opening any pneumatic lines.

  2. Access the Solenoid

Remove any necessary shielding or panels on the side of the transmission to access the solenoid bank.

  3. Disconnect Electrical & Pneumatic Lines

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty air brake solenoid. If the solenoid valve body needs to be removed, carefully disconnect the attached air lines.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Unbolt the solenoid from the valve block. Be careful not to lose any detents, springs, or O-rings if it is a cartridge-style valve.

  5. Install the New Part

Lubricate the new O-rings with clean hydraulic/pneumatic oil. Seat the new solenoid valve into the block and torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Reattach the air lines and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Test

Start the tractor, allow the air compressor to build pressure, and test the brake actuation. Clear the 13.02.07 fault code from the TRANS1 module using a diagnostic tool and verify it does not return.

Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor series and whether the tractor has a Dyna-6 or Dyna-VT transmission. Cross-reference the tractor's serial number in the AGCO parts catalog. On some models, Massey Ferguson only sells the complete valve block assembly rather than individual solenoids.
