Massey Ferguson 13.02.1A – TRANS1: Issue With Park Lock Proximity Switch On The Axle Dyna VT

The transmission control system is receiving an implausible signal, an open circuit, or a short circuit from the proximity sensor responsible for monitoring whether the mechanical park lock mechanism on the axle is physically engaged or disengaged.

   Perform a live data test using the Datatronic screen or diagnostic tool to monitor the Park Lock Proximity Switch state while shifting in and out of park.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the proximity switch (often on the right-hand side of the intermediate housing) for corrosion, broken wires, or loose connections.

   Check the sensor clearance and air gap to ensure it hasn't backed out, become loose, or accumulated debris.

   Test the electrical circuit with a multimeter to verify correct reference voltage and ground from the TRANS1 module.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Crucial: Because you will be working on the park lock system, you MUST securely chock the front and rear wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the park lock proximity switch on the transmission/axle housing. You may need to remove a lateral panel or guard under the cab/engine depending on your specific model.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Clean the area around the sensor thoroughly to prevent dirt from falling into the transmission housing. Disconnect the electrical harness. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the proximity switch from the housing.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new proximity switch into the housing. Note: Proximity switches must be set to a specific depth. Thread the sensor in until it lightly bottoms out against the internal park lock mechanism, then back it out the specific fraction of a turn dictated by your model's OEM service manual to achieve the correct air gap. Tighten the lock nut.

   Reassembly & Clearing Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor on and use the diagnostic interface to clear the 13.02.1A fault code.

   Testing

   Engage and disengage the park lock several times to ensure the code does not return and the tractor holds stationary.
