Massey Ferguson 13.02.41 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid High Amp Draw Dyna 6
Issue description
The electronic control system has detected an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) draw on the circuit that controls the solenoid responsible for releasing the ParkLock/parking brake, indicating a short circuit to ground, a shorted internal solenoid coil, or a severely chafed wiring harness.

Check the cause
Perform a visual wiring inspection by tracing the harness from the Park Brake valve block to the controller, looking for melted insulation, pinched wires, or chafing against the transmission housing.
Perform a solenoid coil resistance test by disconnecting the electrical connector and measuring resistance across the pins (a reading of near-zero ohms indicates an internal short).
Perform a circuit short test with the solenoid disconnected and the key ON, checking for a short to ground on the supply wire coming from the controller.
Inspect the solenoid connector for water ingress, mud, or corrosion that could bridge the pins and cause a high current draw.
Repair steps
Secure the Tractor
Park the tractor on a completely flat, level surface and securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling when the ParkLock system is manipulated or disabled.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the ParkLock / Brake Block valve assembly on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission.
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent accidental shorting during the repair.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the wiring harness from the Park Brake Released Solenoid and remove the retaining nut or clip at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.
Swap the Coil
Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic cartridge stem.
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem, secure it with the retaining nut, and plug in the electrical connector. Ensure the wiring harness is routed safely away from sharp edges or heat sources.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and clear the fault codes via the dashboard or diagnostic tool. Start the tractor and cycle the ParkLock to ensure the brake releases properly and the code does not return.
