Massey Ferguson 13.02.45 – HITCH: Park Brake Activated Solenoid Voltage Issue Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The system has detected an irregular voltage signal (either an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) on the circuit responsible for the Park Brake Activated Solenoid on Dyna-6 transmissions. This prevents the controller from verifying that the park brake solenoid is receiving the correct voltage to engage or disengage properly.

   Locate the park brake solenoid bank on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission and inspect the wiring harness leading to the solenoid for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the solenoid connector and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins.

   Turn the key to the ON position (engine off) and use a multimeter to check for proper reference voltage at the harness connector when the park brake is commanded on/off.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the Park Brake Activated Solenoid itself to check for an internal failure (open circuit or dead short).

   Ensure the park brake switches (wear switch and engagement switch) are functioning, as conflicting physical inputs can trigger related codes.

   Prepare the Machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely, as you will be working on the park brake system. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Access the side of the Dyna-6 transmission housing where the electronic range change and park brake solenoid valve blocks are mounted.

   Remove the Faulty Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical weather-pack connector from the Park Brake Activated Solenoid. Clean the area around the solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic valve block. Remove the retaining bolt or snap-ring holding the solenoid in place. Carefully pull the solenoid cartridge out of the valve block. Have a rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.

   Install the New Solenoid

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission/hydraulic fluid. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks into place securely. Reconnect the battery.

   Calibration/Clearing

   Clear the 13.02.45 fault code from the HITCH module using a diagnostic tool. Start the tractor and test the park brake engagement and disengagement to ensure the voltage issue is resolved and the brake holds.
