Massey Ferguson 13.02.46 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid Voltage Issue Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The control module has detected an electrical anomaly—such as a short circuit to ground, a short to power, or an open circuit—on the voltage supply line or the coil of the solenoid responsible for releasing the park brake on the Dyna 6 transmission.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the HITCH controller to the brake block solenoid on the side of the transmission for chafed wires, pinch points, or broken lines.

   Disconnect the plug at the park brake released solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the park brake released solenoid coil. A reading of 0 ohms (dead short) or infinite resistance (open circuit) indicates internal failure.

   With the connector unplugged, cycle the park brake switch in the cab and check if the HITCH controller is sending the correct voltage to the connector to isolate the fault to the solenoid.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Because you are working on the park brake system, securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental short circuits while working on the transmission harness.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the brake block solenoid assembly on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission housing.

   Remove the Faulty Solenoid

   Unplug the electrical connector from the park brake released solenoid. Unbolt and carefully remove the solenoid cartridge/coil from the brake block. Have a rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic/transmission fluid may weep from the port.

   Install the New Solenoid

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Thread it into the brake block and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in and reconnect the battery.

7. 7

   Test and Clear Codes

   Start the tractor and test the engagement and release of the park brake. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the stored 13.02.46 fault code from the HITCH controller.

8. 8

   Calibration

   If required by the specific model's service manual, perform a transmission/park brake calibration via the dashboard screen to ensure proper progressivity settings.
