Massey Ferguson 13.03.05 – TRANS1: Air Brake Park Brake Solenoid Issue

An electrical or mechanical fault detected in the solenoid circuit responsible for actuating the air brake system's parking brake. The signal to or from the park brake solenoid is outside of its expected operating range (e.g., an open circuit, short circuit, or failed coil).

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the TRANS1 module to the air brake block solenoid on the side of the transmission for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the park brake solenoid coil to check for an open circuit (infinite resistance) or a short circuit.

   Verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid when the park brake switch is engaged.

   Verify the park brake switch in the cab is operating correctly, as switch failures can cause communication issues.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the brake block solenoid assembly on the transmission housing.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the faulty air brake park brake solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Remove the retaining hardware holding the solenoid to the brake block. Pull the solenoid cartridge out, being careful to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.

   Inspect the Block

   Check the valve block for any debris or contamination that may have caused the solenoid spool to stick.

   Install the New Solenoid

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the brake block and tighten the retaining hardware to the manufacturer's torque specification.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Clear the 13.03.05 fault code from the TRANS1 module using a diagnostic tool, then test the park brake engagement and disengagement to ensure the code does not return.
