Massey Ferguson 13.03.2F – TRANS1: Issue With Park Lock Proximity Switch On The Axle Dyna VT

Issue description

This code triggers when the transmission control system detects an irregular signal (such as an open circuit, short circuit, or out-of-range reading) from the proximity switch located on the axle. This switch is responsible for monitoring the physical position of the park lock mechanism to confirm whether the park lock is fully engaged or disengaged.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector leading to the park lock proximity switch on the axle for chafed wires, broken pins, or heavy corrosion.

  2. Verify that the proximity switch is securely mounted and check if the switch has backed out or the bracket is bent, affecting the air gap.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity or proper voltage toggling when the park lock is mechanically engaged and disengaged.

  4. Check the park lock mechanism itself for mechanical binding, jamming, or failure to fully actuate due to debris or lack of lubrication.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Because you will be working on the park lock system, you must securely chock the wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling.

  2. Disconnect Power

Turn off the battery isolator switch or disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts and ensure safety.

  3. Locate the Switch

Locate the park lock proximity switch on the rear axle/transmission housing.

  4. Remove the Faulty Switch

Disconnect the electrical connector. Unbolt the retaining bracket or unthread the proximity switch from the housing.

  5. Install the New Switch

Install the replacement proximity switch. Fitment Note: If the switch is threaded, ensure it is installed to the correct depth/air gap specified in the service manual to prevent the sensor from being crushed by the internal mechanism or being too far away to read.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the electrical connector and restore battery power.

  7. Clear Codes and Test

Clear the fault codes using a dealer diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu. Engage and disengage the park lock several times to ensure the code does not return and the dashboard indicator functions correctly.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Park Lock Proximity Switch (Axle)

Because axle configurations vary slightly between the 7600, 8700, and 8S series, you must cross-reference the tractor's serial number via an AGCO parts dealer to obtain the exact switch variant.
