13.03.30

Massey Ferguson 13.03.30 – TRANS1: Park Brake System Pressure Issue Dyna VT

Issue description

The transmission control system has detected an abnormal hydraulic pressure reading within the parking brake circuit. The system is either failing to build sufficient pressure to release the spring-applied parking brake, failing to drop pressure to engage it, or receiving an out-of-range signal from the pressure sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and condition. A blocked hydraulic filter or low fluid can cause pressure drops that trigger this code.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the handbrake pressure sensor (transducer) and the park brake solenoid on the transmission valve block for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose connector pins.

  3. Use a multimeter to check the electrical signal from the handbrake pressure sensor. Ensure it is receiving the correct reference voltage and outputting a signal within the specified range.

  4. Test the park brake solenoid for proper resistance. Manually supply voltage to see if you hear an audible 'click,' indicating the internal valve is actuating.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Turn off the engine and safely chock the wheels, as you will be working on the parking brake system and the tractor could roll.

  2. Locate Components

Locate the handbrake pressure sensor and the park brake solenoid on the transmission hydraulic valve block (refer to your specific model's service manual for the exact location on the chassis).

  3. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the sensor and solenoid with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system when the parts are removed.

  4. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the electrical connectors from the pressure sensor and the solenoid.

  5. Replace the Sensor (if faulty)

Unscrew the old pressure sensor. Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean hydraulic fluid and thread it into the valve block. Tighten to OEM torque specifications.

  6. Replace the Solenoid (if faulty)

Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem and slide the old coil off. If replacing the entire valve cartridge, unthread it from the block and install the new one. Slide the new solenoid coil on and secure it with the retaining nut.

  7. Reassembly

Reconnect the electrical harnesses to the new components.

  8. Testing

Start the tractor and allow the hydraulic system to build pressure. Cycle the parking brake on and off several times. Check the replaced components for any hydraulic leaks.

  9. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 13.03.30 fault code from the TRANS1 module and verify it does not return during operation.
