Massey Ferguson 13.03.41 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid High Amp Draw Dyna 6

The control module has detected an electrical current (amperage) flowing to the park brake release solenoid that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This condition is almost always caused by an electrical short circuit, such as an internally shorted solenoid coil or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the Hitch ECU to the transmission brake block for chafed wire insulation, pinch points, or melted wires shorting to the chassis (ground).

   Disconnect the plug at the park brake release solenoid and check for water ingress, mud, or corroded/melted pins.

   Perform a coil resistance test using a digital multimeter across the two pins of the solenoid. A reading near 0 ohms indicates an internal short.

   With the solenoid disconnected, turn the key ON and test the harness side for a short to ground.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Crucial: Securely chock the wheels. Because you are working on the parking brake system and removing the release solenoid, the tractor could roll if not properly secured.

   Clean the Area

   Locate the brake block solenoid assembly on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission housing. Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty park brake release solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unthread the solenoid cartridge valve from the brake block. Have a rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will leak out.

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid cartridge with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread it into the brake block and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not over-tighten, as this can distort the cartridge and cause the internal spool to bind).

   Reconnect and Clear

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor on, clear the fault codes via the dashboard or a diagnostic tool, and cycle the park brake switch to ensure the code does not return and the brake engages/releases properly.
