Massey Ferguson 13.03.44 – HITCH: Park Brake Activated Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)
Issue description
The electronic control unit has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing to the park brake activation solenoid is below the minimum expected threshold. A low amp draw typically indicates an open circuit, which is most commonly caused by a disconnected plug, a broken wire in the harness, a corroded pin, or a burnt-out/failed solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness running from the HITCH controller to the transmission-mounted park brake solenoid for chafed wires, rodent damage, or disconnected plugs.
Disconnect the plug at the park brake solenoid and check for water ingress, pushed-back pins, or corrosion.
Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the park brake solenoid. An infinite reading (OL) confirms the internal coil is broken/open and the solenoid must be replaced.
With the multimeter connected to the harness side, command the park brake ON and check if the controller is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid. If voltage is present but the amp draw is low, the solenoid is the culprit.
Repair steps
Secure the Tractor
Park the tractor on level ground. Chock the wheels securely to prevent the tractor from rolling while working on the parking brake system.
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery isolator/negative terminal to prevent short circuits.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the park brake valve block on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission/rear axle housing.
Remove the Faulty Component
Disconnect the electrical connector from the park brake activated solenoid. Depending on the specific valve block design, either remove the retaining nut at the end of the stem to slide the electromagnetic coil off, or unbolt the entire solenoid valve cartridge from the block.
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure the retaining nut, or thread the new valve cartridge into the block (lubricate O-rings with clean hydraulic fluid if replacing the cartridge).
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored 13.03.44 fault code from the dashboard/HITCH module, and cycle the park brake switch to ensure proper engagement and disengagement.
