Check the cause

  1. Inspect the main fuse box for blown fuses related to the transmission control and HITCH module

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the park brake solenoid on the side of the transmission for chafing, breaks, or severe corrosion at the connector

  3. Disconnect the park brake solenoid and use a multimeter to check for proper supply voltage from the HITCH controller when the park brake is activated

  4. Test the internal resistance of the solenoid coil to determine if it is shorted or open (solenoid failure cause)

  5. Verify the physical park brake switch in the cab is opening and closing correctly to rule out conflicting signals (switch failure cause)

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Solenoid Bank

The range change and park brake solenoids are located externally on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission housing.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid bank to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.

  3. Disconnect Electrical Connector

Unplug the wiring harness from the faulty park brake activated solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Remove the retaining bolts or clips holding the solenoid valve in place and carefully pull the solenoid out of the transmission block.

  5. Install the New Solenoid

Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the block and torque the retaining bolts to OEM spec.

  6. Reconnect and Clear Codes

Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn the tractor on and use the onboard diagnostic screen (or a dealer tool) to clear the 13.03.45 fault code.

  7. Transmission Calibration

It is highly recommended to perform a Dyna-6 transmission calibration after replacing transmission solenoids to ensure smooth engagement and progressivity.
