Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the X337 solenoid on the pneumatic trailer/park brake valve block for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires that could cause a short to +12V.

  2. Disconnect the harness at the X337 solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins which would cause an open circuit.

  3. Measure the resistance across the pins of the X337 solenoid coil with a multimeter; an infinite reading (OL) confirms the coil has failed internally (open circuit).

  4. Probe the harness side with the key ON to ensure the TRANS1 controller is sending the correct voltage and that the ground circuit is intact.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Because you are working on the park brake system, chock the wheels securely to prevent the tractor from rolling.

  2. Isolate Power

Turn off the battery isolator switch (designated as X338 in MF schematics) to prevent accidental shorts during repair.

  3. Locate the Solenoid

Identify the X337 Pneumatic brake ParkLock solenoid valve on the transmission brake block.

  4. Remove the Faulty Component

Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut or screws holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old coil off. (If the mechanical valve itself is leaking or stuck, you may need to unthread the entire valve cartridge).

  5. Install the New Component

Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

  6. Reconnect and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn on the battery isolator, start the tractor, and cycle the park brake switch to ensure proper engagement and disengagement.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic tool or the tractor's dashboard diagnostic menu to clear the 13.X.04 code from the TRANS1 module.

Parts you might need
