Massey Ferguson 13.X.42 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)
Issue description
The electronic control system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the Park Brake Release Solenoid circuit is lower than the required threshold. A 'Low Amp Draw' typically indicates an open circuit, which is most commonly caused by a disconnected plug, a broken wire in the harness, or a completely failed (burnt out/open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Park the tractor on flat ground and securely chock the wheels before diagnosing the park brake system
Ensure the tractor's battery is fully charged (around 12.6V), as low system voltage can trigger erroneous solenoid codes
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the park brake release solenoid on the side of the transmission for chafed wires, broken lines, or loose/corroded connector pins
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid coil's pins. Infinite resistance (OL) indicates an internal break
Repair steps
Preparation
Ensure the engine is OFF, the key is removed, and the wheels are chocked.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty park brake release solenoid on the transmission block. Remove the retaining nut or bolt holding the coil to the valve stem, and slide the old coil off.
Installation
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem, secure it with the retaining nut/bolt, and plug the electrical connector back in.
Clear Codes
Turn the ignition on and use the diagnostic interface to clear the 13.X.42 fault code.
Transmission Calibration (Dyna-6)
Warm the transmission oil until the temperature is between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F). Set the engine speed to 1500 RPM. Raise the PowerShuttle arm and hold it in the raised position while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch for approximately 10 seconds until the transmission gear screen displays 'Ct'. Move the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the automatic calibration. Once complete, shift the PowerShuttle to neutral, disengage the diff lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off.
