Massey Ferguson 13.X.48 – HITCH: Park Brake Switch Not Opening When Park Brake Engaged Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The electronic control system is detecting a mismatch between the commanded state of the park brake and the feedback from the park brake switch. When the operator engages the park brake, the switch is supposed to physically open the electrical circuit. If the controller still sees a closed circuit while the brake is engaged, it logs this error.    Wiring Harness Check: If the switch tests fine, check the wiring harness leading back to the HITCH module for chafed wires that might be shorting to the chassis ground or to another voltage source.

   Dashboard Diagnostics: Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic screen to monitor the live state of the park brake switch while manually actuating it to see if the HITCH module registers the change.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely, as you will be working on the parking brake system. Turn off the engine and remove the key.

   Remove the interior trim panels around the park brake lever or access the transmission housing area where the switch is mounted.

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the park brake switch. Inspect the connector for corrosion or melted pins.
