Massey Ferguson 00132.13 – ECU: Air Flow Sensor Signal Issue
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the signal from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is out of the expected range or is providing implausible data when compared to other engine parameters. This may affect the proper operation of the engine due to incorrect air flow data being provided to the ECU, leading to incorrect air-fuel mixture calculations, poor engine performance, increased emissions, and potential stalling. This condition is typically caused by electrical faults such as an open circuit, a short circuit, or incorrect voltage readings.

Check the cause
Inspect the MAF sensor for any visible signs of damage or contamination
Check the air intake system for leaks, cracks, or loose connections between the air filter housing and the intake manifold (unmetered air can cause incorrect MAF readings)
Inspect the wiring harness and connector for the MAF sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Check power supply voltage at the MAF sensor connector with the ignition on and engine off (should be 10-12 volts at the power supply pin)
Verify a good ground connection at the ground pin in the MAF sensor connector
Test signal voltage by back-probing the signal wire with the engine running at idle (should be 0.5 to 1.5 volts and increase smoothly as RPM increases)
Use a diagnostic scan tool to monitor MAF sensor data in real-time (expect 2-7 g/s at idle, and 15-25 g/s at a steady 2500 RPM)
Repair steps
Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery
Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery to ensure safety during the repair.
Locate the MAF sensor
Locate the MAF sensor. It is typically located in the air intake tube between the air filter housing and the engine's throttle body.
Disconnect the electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF sensor.
Remove the fasteners
Remove the fasteners (usually screws or bolts) that secure the MAF sensor to the air intake tube.
Remove the old MAF sensor
Carefully remove the old MAF sensor.
Clean the mounting area
Clean the area where the new sensor will be installed to ensure a good seal.
Install the new MAF sensor
Install the new MAF sensor and secure it with the fasteners.
Reconnect the electrical connector
Reconnect the electrical connector to the new MAF sensor.
Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the battery.
Clear the fault codes
Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic scan tool and start the engine to verify that the issue is resolved.
