Massey Ferguson 132.19 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Air Flow Sensor Signal Issue

Air Mass Flow Sensor CAN communication timeout. The engine controller is either not receiving a signal from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor over the CAN bus network, or the data being received is erratic, implausible, or in error.

   Inspect wiring and harness for open or broken wiring in the MAF sensor circuit, including chafed wires rubbing against engine components

   Disconnect the MAF sensor and inspect the connector for loose, pushed-back, or corroded pins, as well as moisture or dirt

   Verify the integrity of the CAN High and CAN Low communication lines between the MAF sensor and the ECU harness

   Inspect the MAF sensor element for severe dirt, dust, or oil buildup causing implausible data

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor, which is mounted on the engine air intake tubing between the air filter housing and the turbocharger/intake manifold.

   Clean and Inspect Connections

   Unplug the electrical connector. Spray the connector pins (both on the harness and the sensor) with a high-quality electrical contact cleaner. Ensure the weather seal on the connector is intact.

   Clean the Sensor

   Remove the MAF sensor from the intake tube. Using a specialized, residue-free Air Flow Sensor Cleaner, gently spray the hot wire/element inside the sensor. Do not touch the element with your fingers or any tools, as it is extremely fragile. Allow it to air dry completely.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reinstall the sensor, plug in the connector, and reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 000132.19 fault code from the ECU.

   Run the Machine

   Start the engine and let it idle, then run it at working RPMs. If the code returns immediately or during operation, the sensor has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Replace Sensor

   If replacement is required, swap the old MAF sensor with a new OEM unit, clear the codes again, and verify the repair.
