Massey Ferguson 132.19 – Engine ECU: Air Flow Sensor Signal Issue

The engine controller has lost communication with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor over the CAN bus network, or the signal being received is invalid/timed out.

   Inspect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor located on the engine air intake tube for disconnected plugs, broken wires, or heavy corrosion on the connector pins.

   Use a multimeter to verify the 5V reference, ground, and CAN High/CAN Low signal wires at the sensor pigtail to ensure there are no open circuits or shorts to ground in the harness leading back to the Engine ECU.

   Inspect the primary engine air filter and the intake piping. A severely clogged air filter or a massive intake leak can cause erratic MAF readings.

   Remove the MAF sensor and inspect the delicate internal wire/element for dust, dirt, or oil buildup.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery isolator switch to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the MAF sensor on the air intake assembly.

   Depress the locking tab and carefully disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.

   If wiring damage was found during diagnostics, repair the CAN bus harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.

   Remove the fasteners securing the MAF sensor to the intake housing and pull the sensor out.

   Attempt Cleaning: Spray the sensor element generously with a dedicated Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner (do not use brake cleaner or compressed air, as this will destroy the element). Allow it to air dry completely.

   Reinstall the cleaned sensor (or install a new replacement sensor if cleaning fails or the sensor is electrically dead).

   Reconnect the electrical harness and restore battery power.

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 00132.19 / SPN 132 FMI 19 fault code from the Engine ECU.

    Start the engine and run it at various RPMs to verify the code does not return and that the ECU is registering active air flow data.
