Massey Ferguson 14.00.01 – TRANS1: High Pressure Brake System Pressure Too Low DYNA 6 (TRANS1)

Issue description

Hydraulic pressure within the high-pressure brake circuit (or brake accumulator) has dropped below the minimum safe operating threshold. As a safety mechanism, the transmission controller may prevent the tractor from engaging drive (forward or reverse) until adequate brake pressure is restored.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic/transmission oil level is at the correct capacity

  2. Inspect the brake lines, trailer brake couplers, and the brake valve block for visible hydraulic leaks

  3. Test the Brake Pressure Sensor (sensor fault cause): Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to check if the sensor's voltage output is within the specified range, or check for a short to ground

  4. Test the Brake Accumulator (accumulator failure cause): Check if the internal nitrogen charge has leaked or the diaphragm has ruptured, preventing the system from holding pressure

  5. Verify that the main hydraulic pump is delivering adequate standby pressure to the brake circuit

Repair steps

  1. Park and secure tractor

    Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the park lock.

  2. Depressurize the system

    Pump the brake pedals repeatedly until they feel completely firm/hard to safely discharge any residual accumulator pressure.

  3. Locate brake pressure sensor

    Locate the brake pressure sensor (typically mounted on the brake valve block or near the accumulator).

  4. Disconnect sensor harness

    Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.

  5. Replace brake pressure sensor

    Unscrew the faulty sensor and install the new OEM sensor.

  6. Reconnect and build pressure

    Reconnect the harness, start the tractor, and allow the system to build pressure.

  7. Clear fault code

    Clear the 14.00.01 fault code via the dashboard diagnostic menu or an OBD diagnostic tool.

  8. Depressurize brake circuit for accumulator replacement

    Follow steps 1 and 2 above to completely depressurize the brake circuit. Warning: Accumulators store highly pressurized fluid and gas; never remove one without depressurizing the hydraulic circuit first.

  9. Remove accumulator

    Unbolt the accumulator from the brake valve block.

  10. Install new accumulator

    Install the new, pre-charged accumulator (ensure the O-ring/seal is seated correctly).

  11. Pressurize system and check for leaks

    Start the tractor to pressurize the system. Check for leaks around the accumulator threads.

  12. Bleed brake system

    Bleed the brake system if air was introduced into the lines during the repair.

  13. Clear fault code and test drive

    Clear the fault code and test drive to ensure the transmission engages properly.
