Check the cause

  1. Perform a mechanical pressure test: Connect a mechanical pressure gauge to the high-pressure brake system test port and compare the physical gauge reading against the live data reading on your diagnostic tool.

  2. If mechanical pressure is normal but the sensor reads high (sensor/wiring cause): Inspect the wiring harness connecting the brake pressure sensor to the TRANS1 module for a short to power or damaged pins.

  3. If the mechanical gauge confirms the pressure is genuinely too high (mechanical cause): Inspect the high-pressure brake charging valve/regulator to see if it is stuck closed or failing to relieve excess pressure.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Trailer Brake / High-Pressure Brake Pressure Sensor on the brake valve block.

    Scenario A: Faulty Sensor (Most Common)

  2. Thoroughly clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic/air system.

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness connector.

  4. Unthread the faulty sensor and quickly install the replacement sensor to minimize fluid loss (if hydraulic). Torque to OEM specifications.

  5. Reconnect the wiring harness.

  6. Clear the 14.00.05 fault code from the TRANS1 module using a diagnostic tool and test the brakes to ensure the code does not return.

  7. If the system is actually over-pressurizing, locate the brake system charging valve.

    Scenario B: Mechanical Over-pressurization

  8. Remove the valve and inspect the internal spool and springs for scoring, debris, or binding.

  9. Clean, rebuild, or replace the charging valve assembly as necessary.

  10. Bleed the brake system according to the service manual to remove any trapped air.

  11. Clear the fault code and verify that system pressure now regulates within normal parameters.
