Massey Ferguson 14.00.0A – TRANS1: Brake Pressure Sensor High Volts Dyna 6 (TRANS1)

Issue description

The transmission control unit has detected that the signal voltage from the brake pressure sensor is abnormally high (typically outside the 0-5V operating range, such as > 5V). This usually indicates a short circuit to a power source (+12V or +5V reference) or an open ground circuit in the sensor or its wiring harness. It is heavily associated with the High Pressure Brake System and the ParkLock system.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the brake pressure sensor to the TRANS1 module for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched harnesses that could cause a short to power.

  2. Disconnect the sensor and check the pins for corrosion, water ingress, or bent terminals.

  3. Using a multimeter (key on, engine off), verify that the ground circuit has continuity to the chassis/ECU ground and the reference voltage is exactly 5V.

  4. Check if the signal wire has voltage on it while disconnected; if so, there is a short to power in the harness.

  5. Use the AGCO EDT to monitor live voltage. If the voltage reads high (5V+) but drops to 0V when the sensor is unplugged, the sensor itself has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the park brake (if functional), turn off the engine, and remove the key.

  2. Depressurize

    Safely relieve any residual air or hydraulic pressure in the high-pressure brake/ParkLock system by pumping the brake pedals before opening the system.

  3. Locate the Sensor

    Locate the brake pressure sensor on the transmission valve block or air brake supply block (refer to your specific model's Dyna 6 hydraulic/pneumatic schematic).

  4. Removal

    Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Use a wrench to carefully unscrew the sensor from the port. Have a rag ready to catch any minor fluid drips if it is on a hydraulic circuit.

  5. Installation

    Install the new OEM sensor. Ensure the sealing washer or O-ring is properly seated. Torque to the manufacturer's specification.

  6. Reconnection

    Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  7. Clear Codes

    Turn the ignition on and use the AGCO EDT or the tractor's dashboard diagnostic menu to clear the 14.00.0A fault code.

  8. Testing

    Start the tractor and test the brake and ParkLock operation. Verify that the code does not return and that the transmission shifts out of Park normally.
