Check the cause
Locate the Trailer Brake Pressure Sensor on the master cylinder
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the brake pressure sensor for any signs of damage, corrosion, or an open circuit
Verify the sensor voltage/signal using a multimeter or diagnostic tool to check if the sensor is sending an out-of-range signal to the TRANS1 module
Check the actual hydraulic pressure in the brake system to verify it is not physically dropping too quickly or failing to drop, indicating a mechanical hydraulic issue
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Ensure the tractor is turned off and the hydraulic/air brake system is safely depressurized before servicing.
Disconnect the Sensor
Unplug the electrical connector from the Trailer Brake Pressure Sensor located on the master cylinder.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
Unscrew the old pressure sensor from the master cylinder assembly.
Install the New Sensor
Thread the replacement OEM brake pressure sensor into the master cylinder and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 14.01.04 fault code from the TRANS1 module.
Test Operation
Start the tractor, actuate the brakes, and verify that the code does not return and that brake pressure registers correctly on the diagnostic tool.
