Massey Ferguson 14.01.08 – TRANS1: High Pressure Brake System Pressure Too Low DYNA 6 (TRANS1)

Issue description

The pressure in the tractor's high-pressure braking system (pneumatic or hydraulic) has dropped below the minimum safe operating threshold (typically below 4 bar / 58 psi for pneumatic systems). The transmission may refuse to engage drive or reverse as a safety precaution.

Check the cause

  1. Check the condition of the air/hydraulic connection couplers attached to the implement for leaks

  2. Inspect the tractor's pneumatic and hydraulic braking lines for visible leaks, damaged hoses, or loose fittings

  3. Test the braking pressure sensor for faults, open circuits, or high voltage signals

  4. Check the brake accumulator (nitrogen ball) to see if it has lost its nitrogen charge or if the internal diaphragm has failed

  5. Check the hydraulic trailer brake solenoid and park brake release solenoids for proper amp draw and operation

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Implement

    Disconnect any trailers or implements to determine if the pressure loss is originating from the tractor or the attachment.

  2. Verify Pressure

    Use a manual pressure gauge on the test port to verify the actual system pressure. If the manual gauge reads normal (above 4 bar / 58 psi for air systems) but the code persists, the brake pressure sensor is likely faulty and must be replaced.

  3. Inspect/Replace the Accumulator

    If the system physically cannot build or hold pressure, inspect the brake accumulator. A failed accumulator must be replaced. Note: New accumulators are shipped fully discharged for safety and must be recharged with nitrogen by a qualified technician using specialized equipment before installation.

  4. Replace the Sensor

    If diagnosing a faulty sensor, locate the brake pressure sensor (often near the handbrake valve or main brake valve block), disconnect the wiring harness, unthread the old sensor, and install the new OEM sensor.

  5. Clear Codes

    Once the physical repair is complete and pressure is restored, use a diagnostic tool to clear the 14.01.08 code from the TRANS1 module.
