Massey Ferguson 14.01.0B – TRANS1: High Pressure Brake System Pressure Not Dropping DYNA 6 (TRANS1)

Issue description

The transmission controller is monitoring the high-pressure brake circuit and expects to see a pressure drop during specific operational states (e.g., when brakes are released or during accumulator cycling). When the pressure fails to drop, it indicates that hydraulic pressure is trapped in the circuit, or the sensor is falsely reporting high pressure.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a sensor electrical test by back-probing the brake pressure sensor to check if the signal voltage is stuck high when the tractor is off and hydraulic pressure is relieved, which indicates an internally shorted sensor.

  2. Inspect the pigtail and main wiring harness leading to the TRANS1 module for chafing or a short-to-power that could artificially inflate the sensor return signal.

  3. Inspect the high-pressure brake filter for severe contamination or blockages that could prevent hydraulic fluid from returning to the sump.

  4. Verify that the brake control valves and solenoids are not mechanically stuck closed.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

    Turn off the tractor and pump the brake pedals repeatedly to deplete the brake accumulator pressure. Note: Always relieve hydraulic system pressure before opening any lines.

  2. Replace the Sensor/Filter

    If the sensor failed the electrical test, unthread the old brake pressure sensor from the hydraulic block and install the new OEM sensor. If the system is contaminated, replace the high-pressure brake filter.

  3. Bleed the System

    Any time the high-pressure brake circuit is opened, you must perform the specific 'Procedure for bleeding the high-pressure braking system'. Locate the designated bleed screws on the assisted brake master cylinders and bleed the lines until fluid runs free of air bubbles.

  4. Calibrate and Clear

    Reconnect the battery, clear the 14.01.0B code from the TRANS1 module using a diagnostic tool, and test drive the tractor to ensure the brake pressure cycles and drops normally.
