Massey Ferguson 16 – Air Conditioning Panel Module (AIRCON): Air Conditioning Panel Module Internal Issue With Temperature Dial (AIRCON)

Issue description

This code indicates that the Air Conditioning Panel Module has detected an internal electrical or mechanical failure specifically tied to the temperature control dial (potentiometer). The module is unable to read the requested temperature setting from the operator.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the temperature dial on the AC control panel to see if it feels unusually loose, binds, or spins freely without resistance, which confirms a broken internal potentiometer.

  2. Verify that the wiring harness connectors at the rear of the Air Conditioning Panel Module are fully seated and free of corrosion, as a voltage drop can trigger false internal faults.

  3. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT), clear the code, and cycle the temperature dial from full cold to full hot. If code 10.00.16 immediately returns, the internal circuitry has failed.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove Trim

Carefully pry away the plastic dash/console trim bezel surrounding the climate control panel.

  3. Extract the Module

Remove the retaining screws holding the Air Conditioning Panel Module in place.

  4. Disconnect Harness

Pull the module forward gently and unplug the multi-pin electrical connectors from the rear of the unit.

  5. Install New Module

Plug the electrical connectors into the replacement Air Conditioning Panel Module. Ensure the locking tabs click into place.

  6. Reassembly

Secure the module with the retaining screws and snap the trim bezel back into position.

  7. Calibration/Clearing

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the AGCO EDT to clear the stored 10.00.16 fault code. Test the AC and heater functions to ensure the new temperature dial is communicating properly.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Air Conditioning Panel Module

Specific part numbers vary heavily depending on the exact tractor series and whether the cab has standard or automatic climate control. Ensure you are ordering the correct generation of HVAC controls, as AGCO introduced Generation 2 HVAC systems (with improved airflow) in Fall 2021 for the Global Series (4700, 5700, 6700), which may have different module requirements.
