Issue description
The electronic control system is receiving an implausible, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the potentiometer (dial) that controls the downward speed (drop rate) of the rear 3-point hitch. This is typically caused by a failed potentiometer track, an open circuit, or a short to ground/power in the wiring harness.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the hitch drop rate control dial (located on the B-pillar or right-hand control console) for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.
Disconnect the dial and test the potentiometer using a multimeter. A fast ohmmeter sweep should show a smooth resistance change (typically in the 0.5–4.5 kΩ range). Jumps, flat spots, or an open circuit indicate a failed internal potentiometer track.
Check for proper reference voltage and ground at the connector. Verify continuity between the dial's connector and the Linkage/PTO/Light Module on the B-Pillar.
