Issue description

Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The main tractor management system is unable to send or receive data from the specific control module located on the right-hand B-pillar of the cab, which is responsible for operating the electronic rear linkage (ELC), the Power Take-Off (PTO), and the working lights.

Check the cause

  1. CAN Bus Resistance Check: Disconnect the tractor's battery. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance between the CAN High (CAN H) and CAN Low (CAN L) pins at the diagnostic port or the module connector. A healthy CAN bus should read exactly 60 ohms.

  2. CAN Voltage Check: Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition ON. Measure the voltage of the CAN lines to ground. CAN H should typically read around 2.5V to 2.7V, and CAN L should read around 2.3V to 2.5V.

  3. Wiring and Connector Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading up the right-hand B-pillar. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose connector pins at the module itself.

  4. Power and Ground Verification: Verify that the B-pillar module is receiving proper 12V power and has a solid ground connection.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Module

    Remove the interior plastic trim panels on the right-hand B-pillar of the cab to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light control module.

  3. Inspect and Clean

    Disconnect the multi-pin connector from the module. Inspect for corrosion or pushed-out pins. Clean the contacts with a dedicated electronic contact cleaner and reconnect to see if the connection was simply loose.

  4. Repair Wiring

    If the diagnostic checks revealed a short or open circuit in the CAN lines, trace the harness down the B-pillar to the main cab junction and repair the damaged wire.

  5. Replace or Repair the Module

    If the wiring, power, and ground are all intact but the module still fails to communicate, the internal CAN transceiver in the B-pillar module has likely failed. Remove the mounting screws and extract the module.

  6. Reassembly and Calibration

    Install the new or refurbished module. Reconnect the battery. Connect an AGCO Service Analyzer (or equivalent diagnostic tool) to the tractor to clear the 1B.01.06 fault code and perform any necessary configuration or calibration for the new module.
