Check the cause
Check the B-Pillar button panel and the draft control dial for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing full rotation.
Inspect the wiring harness between the draft control dial and the Linkage/PTO/Light Module. Look for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion at the connectors.
Using a multimeter, test the output signal of the draft control dial potentiometer while slowly turning it. The voltage/resistance should sweep smoothly without dropping out or spiking.
Verify there are no accompanying LIN BUS or CAN BUS communication codes (such as 1B.01.04 or 1B.01.06), which would indicate a broader module communication failure rather than a localized dial issue.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Access the Module
Carefully remove the trim panels on the right-hand B-Pillar to access the Linkage/PTO/Light Module and the rear of the control dials.
Isolate the Fault
Disconnect the electrical connector specifically for the Hitch Draft Control Dial.
Replace the Component
If the dial failed the multimeter sweep test, remove the retaining nut/clips holding the dial in the panel and install a new draft control potentiometer.
Reassemble and Reconnect
Plug the harness back into the new dial, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place. Reinstall the B-Pillar trim.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 1B.01.07 fault code. You may need to perform a Rear Hitch Module Calibration (often associated with code R38) to sync the new dial's parameters with the ECU.
Parts you might need
(2)Hitch Draft Control Dial / Potentiometer
Generic part name; specific OEM part numbers vary heavily by exact cab configuration and are typically sold as part of the B-Pillar switch cluster or require a VIN-specific lookup via the AGCO Parts Catalog. When ordering, ensure the replacement dial matches the specific Tier 3, iT4, or Tier 4 Final cab layout of your exact model year.
Linkage/PTO/Light Module
Only required if the module itself has suffered an internal failure, e.g., code 1B.01.05.
