1B.02.06

Massey Ferguson 1B.02.06 – Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar: CAN BUS Issue With The Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar

Issue description

Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The main tractor network is unable to send or receive data from the specific control module located on the cab's B-pillar, which is responsible for managing the rear linkage (hitch), Power Take-Off (PTO), and lighting systems.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the CAN BUS wiring harness routing to the right-hand B-pillar for any signs of chafing, pinching, or breaks.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the Linkage/PTO/Light Module and check for loose, bent, pushed-back, or corroded pins.

  3. Verify that the B-pillar module is receiving proper 12V power and has a solid ground connection.

  4. Use a multimeter to test the CAN High and CAN Low lines at the module connector for proper network resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network when powered down).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  2. Access the Module

Locate the right-hand B-pillar inside the tractor cab. Carefully remove the interior plastic trim panels covering the B-pillar to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light Module and its wiring harness.

  3. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged CAN wiring or a faulty connector, repair the broken wires or replace the damaged connector pins.

  4. Replace the Module (If Applicable)

If the wiring, power, ground, and CAN bus resistance all test normal, the internal CAN transceiver in the module has likely failed. Unbolt the Linkage/PTO/Light Module from the B-pillar and disconnect the harness.

  5. Install New Module

Connect the wiring harness to the replacement module and mount it securely to the B-pillar.

  6. Reassembly

Reinstall the B-pillar interior trim panels.

  7. Reconnect and Clear

Reconnect the battery. Connect a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to the tractor, clear the 1B.02.06 fault code, and test the linkage, PTO, and lighting functions to verify the repair. (Note: A new module may require configuration/calibration via the dealer diagnostic tool to pair it with the tractor's specific options).

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Linkage/PTO/Light B-Pillar Control Module
